a writing guy

sprinkling 100s and 1000s

I feel like I’m gardening now. Like I’m trimming a bonsai tree, or colouring in a picture book. Its a weird completely new sensation. This week I’ve been tackling the ending. Working through the paragraphs and getting creative with the sentences… and its really good fun!

I’m staggered at how cool it is. I can just sit and get creative and not worry about the plot, or the pace or the number of words. Wow. Its quite fulfilling to know that the ‘body’ is done. I have decided now that my work is largely rubbish. But its nice rubbish, its my best rubbish to date (or ever in fact) … so the pressure is off, the expectation of blowing people away has completely disappeared. I don’t care anymore. I can just relax and decorate my piece until I’m happy with it.

I do need to buy a new printer tho. Mine has died and my first draft print out is now useless, as the initial structure has changed completely its no longer readable. Will have to sort that out this wkend.

  1. Glad to hear you’re having fun with the editing. I, too, am a battle-scarred veteran of NaNo. People think we’re insane for trying to write a novel in 30 days. Well, maybe we are.

    Congratulations on the first novel.
